Q:What are the basic living expenses like on campus and in Hualien?
Overall, Taiwan is a very affordable country to live in. Expenses for food, living, transportation, and health care are minimal, although there is also a wide variety of more expensive restaurants and entertainment options. Medical expenses are also very affordable (you will be covered under a health plan while studying at NDHU, so your health expenses for doctor visits and prescription medication will be subsidized partially as well). The university dormitory fee is approximately NT10 000/semester (winter and summer holiday fees are extra), and renting an independent apartment or house in the area surrounding the university will cost approximately NT20 000 to NT40 000/year (12 months). If you share an apartment with another student, this price can be decreased. Meals will cost between NT50 to NT100 each, both on campus and in the area surrounding the university. In Hualien you can find more expensive, and diverse, eating options, though you can easily find places within the same price bracket as on campus. 瀏覽數
