Q: What is the weather like in Hualien?
Hot, and cold! Taiwan is a sub-tropical island with distinct summer and winter seasons. Summers are hot and humid (average temperature = 28.50 Celsius), while winters are cool and windy (average temperature = 18o Celsius). The annual average precipitation is approximately 2100 mm, most of which falls between May and October. However, during this time it certainly does not rain every day. Taiwan also receives 2 – 3 typhoons per year during the period between July and September. Please check the Central Weather Bureau (http://www.cwb.gov.tw/eng/index.htm) for detailed information. With the humidity, the winters can feel very cold so please bring warm clothes. The NDHU campus is in the lowland region, but the mountains that surround it rise steeply. If you drive into these mountains, you can find yourself at an elevation of almost 3000 meters sooner than you realize – you can even see snow here in the winter! 瀏覽數
